Jeremy Campbell competes in the Men’s Discus F44.Jeremy’s Story

Jeremy Campbell was born with a rare birth deficiency, which resulted in the amputation of his right leg after his first birthday. However, Jeremy was always empowered to do more.

Dedication and Records

Jeremy Campbell earned a spot on the 2008 and 2012 U.S. Teams. Before graduating from Perryton High School in Perryton, Texas, Jeremy was all-district in basketball, track and football. He was introduced to amputee athletics at the UCO Endeavor Games in Edmond, Oklahoma in 2004.

As a result of his dedication, Campbell entered Beijing as the favorite in his best event, the pentathlon. Not surprisingly, Campbell blew away his competition by beating the rest of the field by almost 400 points. Campbell also won gold in the men's discus F44.

In June 2012, Campbell set a new record in the men’s discus F44/22 at the UCO Endeavor Games, the same place he was introduced to amputee athletics in 2004. During the competition Jeremy actually broke the current world-record twice – the first with a throw of 62.3m, and the second with a throw of 63.45m. Jeremy had previously set the world record less than a month ago at the BT Paralympic World Cup in England.
