The Residency Program is led by Curt A. Bertram, CPO, FAAOP, Director, National Residency Program and National Orthotics Specialist alongside Kristie Stenger, National Resident Liaison.

Curt A. Bertram, CPO, FAAOP 

Mr. Bertram received his undergraduate education from Northern Arizona University in Mechanical Engineering.  In 1992, he received his Post Graduate Certificate in Orthotics from Northwestern University and in 2013; he received his Post Graduate Certificate in Prosthetics from the University of Hartford/Newington Certificate Program. 

From 1990-1997 he served as the Outside Clinical Services Manager / Certified Orthotist where he managed clinical services for Phoenix area hospitals as a Halo and adult rehabilitation specialist and a residency instructor/mentor for Hanger Clinic.  From 1997-2004, he served as the practice manager / certified orthotist for Hanger Clinic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he specialized in pediatric orthotics.  In 2004, he became the Area Clinic Manager where he continued specializing in pediatric orthotics and was the area residency director/mentor.  In 2011, he became one of Hanger Clinic's National Orthotics Specialists where he focused on pediatric orthotics, new product development/integration as well as educational programming for Hanger's National Orthotics Program.  In 2015, Mr. Bertram took over the role as the Director for the National Residency Program in addition to his position as a National Orthotics Specialist.

Mr. Bertram has held numerous board and committee leadership positions and is a member of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetist (AAOP) earning his Fellow designation (FAAOP) in 2012.  In 2014 Mr. Bertram was the president of The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) after serving as a volunteer for 14 years.  He has also presented nationally at AOPA, ACPOC, AAOP and the Hanger Education Fair.  In addition to his Hanger duties and volunteerism, Mr. Bertram lecturers at several Universities on the O&P profession, outcome measures and pediatric orthotics.

Kristie Stenger, Clinical Services Specialist IV, National Resident Liaison

Ms. Stenger received her undergraduate education in Athletic Training and Exercise Science and Health Promotion from the University of Florida and Florida Atlantic University, respectively. She began working with Hanger Clinic's Upper Extremity Prosthetics Program in 2008 and then became the Clinical Care Coordinator for the National Orthotics Program from 2010-2015.  In 2015, she became a Clinical Services Specialist IV for Hanger Clinical Services and she now serves as Hanger's National Resident Liaison with administration of the Hanger's National Residency Program and is the resident liaison to National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE).
